Salvador Reviews

PRESS

"...SALVADOR HAVE ALL THE MAKINGS OF A DOOM JUGGERNAUT. CLEANSED THROUGH FIRE & BLOOD FEATURES THREE RELATIVELY TERSE (READ: FOUR-SIX MINUTE) CUTS THAT BLEND A FUZZY, DOPED-OUT AESTHETIC WITH SOME SERIOUSLY EPIC MELODIES AND DYNAMIC SHIFTS. THE OVERALL EFFECTS ISN'T DISSIMILAR TO DEADBIRD OR SAMOTHRACE, BUT SALVADOR'S SONGS ARE NOTICEABLY MORE COMPACT AND ACCESSIBLE... ""

"...EXCELLENT STONER ROCK/METAL A LA SLUDGIER BARONESS AND EARLY-TO-MIDDLE MASTODON. WHAT SEPERATES SALVADOR FROM THE REST OF THE STONER METAL HERD IS GUITARISTS AARON LUM AND WAYNE FIDLERS SOLOING SKILLS. WHILE "VULTURES" IS THE OBVIOUS HIGHLIGHT, SOLO-WISE, THE AXE SLINGERS' ABILITIES ARE OBVIOUS THROUGHOUT THE ALBUM. IN FACT, THE GUITARS ARE REMINISCENT OF METALSUCKS FAVES THESE ARMS ARE SNAKES..."

"This is classically minded sludge/metal played with all the fervent chops of High on Fire (complete with blistering guitar solos, Sabbath-y riffs and battle hardened drumming), complemented by ominous, ethereal downshifts akin to Rwake and gutsy vocals from bassist/vocalist Kirk Evans that range from a straining, Windsteinian bellow to a searing, blackened screech. While a snippet from a lead-in review on their page compares the band to a sludgier offshoot of the Baroness/Mastodon genus, I’m going to have to disagree with both comparisons. Salvador’s crustier, more metallic and bereft of the atmospheric nuances found in the post-metal genus, instead possessing a serious psychedelic sheen that really adds some vibrant color to their audio palette."
